I still have difficulties in understanding spoken English

There are two major issues in this problem: vocabulary and accent. I am stil in process of accumulating the vocabulary, and I believe I am getting better now. The accent is a hard problem. Comparing to whites, balcks have stronger accents. Besides this, they use a lot of slangs and speak very fast. It is a hard time if you listen to a guy speaks so weird. The solution for this is simple: listen to radios and  TVs. I believe that practice makes perfect, and I will be used to the southern accent after long time practicing. One evidence is that I am better in understanding spoken English now than the period I came to U.S. last year.

Skills for fast reading

I got one point recently. Move your eyes smoothly and fast. While moving, focusing on the thought groups, not the single word.

Thought group is the concept I got from the College English textbook. That was many years ago. However, I did not apply this point during this period. I would be more active and fast in reading articles if I realized the skills earlier.

荷兰的不同英语名

Dutch, Netherland, and Holland are all the names for the Kingdom of Netherlands. Although all the names illustrate the Kingdom of Netherland clearly, the "Holland" is an unofficial word, and it might be incorrect in some cases. The other two words are preferable.

The reading speed is the key issue!

I did not pass the CLEP exam, English Composition (without essay) today. This indicates that I need more intensive practice in order to enhance the familiarity of English and the skillfulness of English thinking.

Well, I need a plan that sets  daily reading assignments in order to speed up the reading.

"Compare to" and "Compare with"

When emphasizing the difference, "compare with" is accurate. When emphasizing the similarity, "compare to" is accurate.

In fact, "compare to" focuses on thinking something as something.
